I’ve seen a lot of “there’s only one” arguments in defense of this XBox “update” based on the idea that every advertisement has “ADVERTISEMENT” plastered underneath it. Well, I see two windows displaying advertisements, one of which slides between 3 other advertisements.
Five out of the eight tabs/blades/whatever now contain these “WE ADMIT THESE ARE ADVERTISEMENTS” advertisement boxes along with the big “THESE AREN’T ADVERTISEMENTS THESE ARE PART OF THE 60-DOLLAR-A-YEAR SOCIAL EXPERIENCE” advertisements.
So please, stop with that excuse. It doesn’t hold water.
I think what you people need to understand is that these advertisements do not take away from the experience. If these ads bother you so much, you can always stop paying for Xbox LIVE. No one’s forcing you to stay.
^^^ With an easy tap of the d-pad or move of the analog skip you can move onto a new “tab” to get away from that praiticular advertisement.
In fact, the new update cleans up your dash as instead of having all these unwanted boxes and applications, it now gives you a choice of downloading applications or not. I don’t need to have facebook always there now. Plus from what I have seen everything is now more organised. If that means I have to look at the advertisement of a film for 3 seconds before I switch to another tab or boot up a game then I’m cool with it.
